As a member of the Down River Association of Realtors® (DRAR), we became involved with Habitat for Humanity while serving on the 2001 Community Outreach Committee. Over a span of five years, we had the opportunity to participate in three builds, two of which were sponsored by DRAR. In 2003, our real estate company provided site superintendent services for the first ever DRAR sponsored Habitat for Humanity build in Taylor Michigan for the Hayes Family. Two years later, our building company, Your Michigan Home Builder, was selected to participate in the 22nd annual Jimmy Carter Work Project hosted by Michigan in 2005. During that year we built two homes concurrently, one in Lincoln Park, Michigan for the Lee Family (sponsored by DRAR) and the other in Canton, Michigan for the Wesley Family (sponsored by area churches through the circle of faith).

It’s an exhilarating experience to work side by side with people from all walks of life, all working together to make affordable housing available to families who would not otherwise have had the opportunity to experience the American Dream.
