While serving on the 2001 Community Outreach Committee for the Downriver Association of Realtors, we had the opportunity to tour the Penrickton facility as part of our association's community outreach program. As one of the premiere 501(c)3 non-profit facilities of its kind in the country, Penrickton provides 5-day residential, daycare and consultation/evaluation services to blind, multi-disabled children, ages one through twelve and their families at no charge. Since our initial visit, we have donated hundreds of hours of our time each year, both at the facility and at home, preparing and processing mailers as part of Penrickton's ongoing fundraising efforts since they rely solely on private donations for the services and programs they provide. In November of 2002, we pledged $25,000 over five years to sponsor a room (see "Room Sponsorship" image, left side) for two to three children for five-day residential care at the facility.
